Position Title: Middle Office and Operations Manager

Location: Cairo

Position Overview:

The Middle Office and Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the family office, responsible for overseeing all middle office functions, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring robust risk management and compliance frameworks. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and extensive experience in investment operations. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between investment strategies and operational execution, ensuring seamless coordination among various teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership:

    • Lead the Middle Office team, providing direction and support to enhance their capabilities and performance.
    • Develop, implement, and refine operational policies and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with industry standards.

 Trade and Settlement Management:

    • Oversee the trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
    • Ensure timely resolution of trade discrepancies and facilitate communication between the Front Office, Back Office, and external counterparties.

 Risk Management:

    • Identify and assess operational risks, implementing controls and mitigation strategies to minimize exposure.
    • Regularly review and update risk management frameworks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Performance Measurement and Reporting:

    • Manage the production of accurate and timely performance reports, including investment performance, risk analytics, and operational metrics.
    • Provide insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making by family office executives and stakeholders.

 Data Management and Technology Integration:

    • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data across all investment management systems.
    • Collaborate with IT to enhance technological solutions that facilitate data reporting and operational efficiency.

 Team Development and Training:

    • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
    • Organize training sessions to keep the team updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.

 Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Act as the main point of contact between the Middle Office and other teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration.
    • Maintain relationships with external partners, including custodians, brokers, and auditors, to enhance operational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA) is highly desirable.

 

Experience:

  • 5-8 years of experience in middle office operations, investment management, or related roles within family offices, private equity, or hedge funds.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams and operational processes effectively.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in investment management software and financial tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Advent, or similar platforms).
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to conduct financial modeling and performance analysis.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Comprehensive understanding of various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and private equity investments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements relevant to family offices and investment management.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on continuous operational improvement.
